I just got a new copy of MS Office 2010 pro yesterday. Since I work in the industry, I got it for 15 bucks instead of 500, which I highly recommend doing since the only program I'd pay 500 bucks for is one that would clean my house. It better cook and do laundry, too.

Anyway, I just installed it. Works great. Except, like all programs, you have to spend time trying to figure out how to get it to stop doing all the crap that you don't want. Turn off the damned smart quotes, please. Kill that font, ugh. But that's the way computers work. They tell you what you want it to do and make it halfway to impossible for you to figure out how to make it STOP.

I find it amusing in the same way that a lot of places charge a small fee when you buy a new computer to take all the 'convenience' crap off for you. Ah, PC's. Force feeding you advertisement since 1993.

I only recently got upgraded to Office 2007 here but I totally feel your pain. I've resorted to putting OpenOffice back on my desktop and laptop for when I don't feel like dealing with the new toolbars which I cannot figure out LOL.

$500? Dang, and here I cringe when I see for $80 at the college student price online.

Oh, yes, the pro version is darned expensive. I personally only use MS Word but my husband is a tech so he was happy to get all the newest toys that go with it.

I think all the versions are $$$ but I'd still rather pay the $80 for Pro then the $500. Reminds me, taking an English class for fall, need to see if the instructor insists we buy the latest greatest. Dropped a class back in 2008 when one did that to me when 2003 worked just fine. Couldn't afford the price tag for software I hated anyway.

$15!!! So Jealous. My work computer STILL doesn't have Word on it, cause I just can't bring myself to pay the price. At least at home I can get away with the student versions.
