Transformers: Revenge of the...oh, who cares

Finally broke down and watched Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. I've owned it since it came out on blu-ray but never sat down to actually watch it. So what can I say about it?

Well, for starters, it sucked. Oh, it wasn't bad, as it, gouge out my eyes, but it was nowhere near as good as the first one. Leaving aside the issues of plot because, let's face it, a good action movie usually has some holes and the first movie's plot was on the thin side, it still sucked. It was way too long and surprisingly boring. The only Autobots that got any real screen time were those horrible Twins who were invented for the movie. I know I have a Bumblebee bias, but hell, he was a main character in the first movie! This movie pretty much reduced him to...a car. The other bots barely got mentioned by name, much less had any screen time.

People who bitched about the lack of screen time the bots got in the first movie must've hated this one because somehow, the focus was even more on the humans. And, of course, on the testicles of all, Humans and Bot balls alike.

And, I have to ask and I'm sure others have but "SPOILERS" if the shred of the allspark could bring back a dead bot...is there any reason they wasted it on Grandpa Moans-A-Lot with a fucking transforming CANE? Why the hell didn't they use that on Optimus and skip the whole trip to Egypt? Oops, sorry, using logic there.

Stupid Michael Bay.

The 3rd movie will be even worse, its supposed to focus on humans even more. I want bots dammit not humans!

Jetfire was in deep stasis, so that's why the shard 'woke' him, and Optimus is a Prime and needs something more.

Or not. Not enough explosions if you do it your way.

Urgh. I hope #3 is not as bad as RotF. I have to tell you, I keep watching the Shanghai sequence of RotF because that was the best part, IMO. If the whole movie had been along those lines, RotF would have rocked.

Yeah, but Megatron was pretty darned dead and the shard woke him up. I actually thought I had the movie all figured out when Megatron was brought back. I thought, 'Oh, ok, they'll use that other shard on Optimus. That makes sense.'

But no, I was wrong. I used logic and we all know that makes no money!

The second I saw that Devastator had...erm... dangling bits I knew the pain would never end.

There you go with that logic stuff again. There are so many plot holes in RotF that I can't even begin to list them. I really wish they'd troll through LJ and find some of the smarter fans (you, tainry, okami_myrrhibis, a few others) and have you guys check the thought processes that go into the movie storyboards! It would so help the final product.

*facepalm* Those dangling bits. ZOMG, could we have gotten any more juvenile? I have hung around guys all my life, I get their sense of humor, I can be as crude as the next person, and THAT? Peeved me. Ugh. That wasn't humor, that was a guy flashing the world because he's got dangling bits.

There wasn't enough Bumblebee or Ratchet, the twins took time away from Bee, I wanted to know more about Jolt (I liked him) and Sideswipe (where was Sunny?), and I absolutely hated that the 'bots got a corner of a hanger as 'their' place rather than a private place to themselve on Diego Garcia. I did really like Soundwave's alt mode, though, and thought he was fantastic and creepy and scary.

IOW, they did some things right and a heck of a lot wrong, and even I can not gloss over all the wrong. I just choose to focus on the few right things and ignore the rest, hoping for better on #3.

I have hung around guys all my life, I get their sense of humor, I can be as crude as the next person, and THAT? Peeved me. Ugh. That wasn't humor, that was a guy flashing the world because he's got dangling bits.

Between the dog humping scenes and that...yeah. There should be an unwritten rule that no more than one dog-humping scene is allowed per movie.

The only part I think I really enjoyed was Optimus's pure badass moments. That, I liked. Hopefully, 3 will be better. We'll see.

the racist bot twins hurt slightly less if you fanwank it that they are middle class white kids from the suburbs.

at some point i want someone to cut together all of the bot parts of the movies so we'll have at least one movie actually about the robots. i think 3 bay films might give enough footage.

The only part I liked from the new movie was the scene where Sam dumps Bumblebee before he goes off to college. And I'd seen that part in the trailer.


...and how stupid is it that Bumblebee will pick Sam up and make him visit Optimus but doesn't hang around campus to keep an eye on him? You know he totally would.

I watched the whole movie and at the end felt a slight sense of relief, because at least it was over, right? The suffering had ended.

Not the worst movie I've ever seen, by far, but eh, if you have a few hours that aren't do anything, you could throw them at it.
