Optimus knowing Ratchet very well, and the things you said about seeing Ratch as not wanting to have to do any of the work and being a pushy bottom. That helped a lot! If the relationship mechanics were up to Ratchet, they'd never get anywhere; so once Optimus had something resembling permission - sparkfelt even if the CPU keeps trying to put on the anti-locks - he leads this waltz.
