I admit, having someone in their car talking on a cell phone for 16 hours was probably enough to make the other passengers wish for an ice pick to the temple, theirs or hers.

But what I want to know is, where did she get the battery for her cell phone because I want it!! Good god, my cell would croak after two! Is this woman from the future?? Was she siphoning energy from the other passengers with her vampire phone?? All I know is, hand over the goods!

She probably just plugged it in somewhere on the train, though, sadly. Whoever invents a smartphone battery that lasts an entire day is going to make a fortune.

Sorry, the Amtrak trains have electrical outlets and she had her phone plugged into one.

I just knew it. Too good to be true. All those people who had to listen to her yak for 16 hours suffered for nothing.

yep, amtrak charging station. What I want to know is, will this change the woman's behavior? She didn't understand what the problem was talking for 16 hours in a quiet car as it was. I wonder if she's been humiliated enough to stop using her cell in public period or does she still feel entitled to continue doing what she did?

Battery? I was recced a battery from dealextreme.com ... its one of those 'fakes' of sorts though... so I never connect it directly... but use my own USB cable... works wonderfully so I'm just no longer worried 'bout my battery:) even over a weekend:D :P (its cheap... and not too big either...)

charger station... sounds... useful.I think.

I'm taking a 30-hour cross-country train trip this summer, and really looking forward to it, but this story is the nightmare that plagues me at 3 am when I'm wondering if I shouldn't have just booked a flight...

Gah, wouldn't your ear fall off?

Aside from electrical outlets on trains, I work for VZW & we have a USB power pack charger, and there are wireless charging pads too. They require a special battery cover but are pretty fly. For a phone to have that much battery life, the extended battery would be the size of a small dog. LOL

Aren't we glad people can't use phones on planes? And more importantly, how did we occupy ourselves before cell phones??? No constant connection to our lame social lives? Oh noez!! ;)

Gah, wouldn't your ear fall off?

I can't think of anyone that I'd want to talk to that long. We could have first contact with aliens and I wouldn't want to talk to them for 16 hours.

For that matter, I can't think of anyone who would want to talk to ME for 16 hours.

For a phone to have that much battery life, the extended battery would be the size of a small dog. LOL

But you could get a little snazzy purse for it, just like Paris Hilton does for her little dogs!
