Junk collectors of the world, unite!

My husband and I have recently developed an unnatural addiction to our local salvation army. It just opened this last year and we donated a ton of stuff and our generosity has been greatly rewarded.

Thus far we have netted:

A super awesome retro sofa and loveseat with all the pillows and arm covers ($35!)
assorted shoes for my fashion addicted daughter
4 retro dining room chairs
a large harvest picture that matches my kitchen wonderfully
various Halloween's collectibles
jeans, jeans, and more jeans for my son
A gorgeous dollhouse-shaped bookcase that is almost twice my daughters size and retails for over $100 ($12)

Soon, my whole house will be decorated in Early American Junk. *G*

That's wonderful. Recycling makes the world go round. :D

Yay! We love the Salvation Army store. Mostly for clothes, but we've gotten a lot of other things there, too. I love buying clothes there because I figure they've already survived a bunch of washes, so I know they're not going to shrink anymore or turn into some weird shape. And they're so cheap! Our closest store has $1 tag days, when all the white tagged clothes or blue tag or whatever are $1 each.

I LOVE your icon. I too am a hopeless coke junkie. Morning noon and night, I just can't function without it :)

Then you and your husband are SMART as hell! A lot of cool and pretty stuff is to be found and what's really nice is the little fact that some of the stuff you get in places like that (second-hand) are rare and sometimes impossible to buy anymore. :D

Good hunt!

*grin*

I get most (all) of my original artwork from various thrift stores. I have netted quite expensive pieces for not alot of money. SCORE!

My family's like that too, my mom's the worst though. We really struggled with money when I was little before my mom remarried and by the time there was money around it was already deeply ingrained in all of us children that goodwill/salvation army/thrift shops were the best place to find the shit you need. I was 20-something when I bought something other than a bra from Nordstroms for the first time, and it was a black skirt suit since I needed to have something vaguely professional/funerally in my closet.
Ironically enough I prefer to wear the jacket from that set with a pair of pants I found at Out of The Closet for a dollar in here in LA instead of the skirt it came with.

Lol, last year I did volunteer work for a year at my local op shop and I couldn't stop buying stuff there too. It was like an awful (totally awesome) addiction =^.^=
Now I don't even understand how people can buy clothes that cost more than $2 o.o
