It was the first time Angel had been argued down by another man wearing his clothes.

!!! I read this first like he had been argued down by another man not wearing clothes. *shakes head*

It made him remember that Doyle had been his friend first, before all the strangeness and false desire, before he'd ever learned the taste of his skin.

Gah -- hot and sweet.

"You can't stand on the outside and watch the world if you want to be a part of it."

"Like you are?"

Ouch.

Oh, Giles! Yum. Want more Giles.

Angel missing Sunnydale and the gang/not-quite-friends was bittersweet.

"I'm pretty sure AT&T has service in LA or hey, you could just call 1-800-COLLECT."

What was that about not pissing Buffy off?

It was in him to beg her forgiveness; he hated hurting her, hated seeing it even as some part of him inside deeply resented how easily she did it to him.

Great to see him angsting over seeing her. Have to remember this is S1 Angel and the Buffy context.

"Don't leave."

Gah -- lovely moment when Angel allows himself to be vulnerable and ask for comfort instead of sending Doyle away. And Doyle giving without hesitation -- gah.

and if he felt warm wetness against his skin, Angel didn't say anything.

Lovely, painful ending.
