Heh. I agree, and I'm not even sure if the part about his date in Ba Sing Se actually counts as interest.
It never ceases to amaze me that he can be shy. Of course, he never really has a chance to be a normal person up until that point, so many it shouldn't surprise me at all. ^_^ I really enjoyed this.
